I went to my local, rural bank, WESTPAC BANK, to tell the Manager that I needed to withdraw $50k in cash. She refused. I told her I'd report her to the NSW Police as a thief if she didn't cooperate. She countered, by phone the next day, that they'd need to count it out at the Cashier Window, for Safety & Liability of the bank, endangering MY safety and security.

I agreed, if I received these instructions IN WRITING ✍️ 😑. She changed her mind and I got a private room and 2 staff members to count it.

Damn. I had a Barrister sooo ready...

It isn't uncommon. If you go to your bank in Canada and want, say 200$, that's probably okay. If you want to withdraw 2000$, they're unlikely to have it, and will direct you to the ATM - it won't take more than a few days' visits to withdraw it that way.

Not comforting.
