In Canada, the government has discouraged doctors from ordering Vitamin D testing of patients:

I went into my local pharmacy last week, and they refused to order in a Vitamin D testing kit for me (their pharmacy chain is supposed to be an official seller of the product). Actually, that was a good thing. When I got home I found that I could order it directly from the manufacturer, MediSure, for half the price and with free shipping!
For $99 including the shipping, they sent me 11 test kits and two bottles of 2500 IU Vitamin D (value $20). I’m not sponsored by MediSure, but it does sound like it! I ordered the physician/dentist test kit. Here are some results I got from using the kit on someone (not my results):
As you can see, this person had “sufficient” (30+ ng/mL) amounts of Vitamin D (as expected from the dosing over the past few months). The paper cited in my article above shows a 33% reduction in Covid mortality once “sufficient” amounts of Vitamin D have been achieved. However, to get optimum protection, this study suggests aiming for 50 ng/mL:
Unfortunately, with the Medisure kit it is not possible to tell if someone has achieved 50 ng/mL amounts of Vitamin D. Which is a shame, because at 50 ng/mL mortality from Covid was “close to zero”! However, the kit could still save lives (theoretically, 33% of Covid mortalities). For $9 I think that is pretty good value.
Do you remember all those Covid test kits that were given away? Billions of dollars were spent on them. And yet our government won’t provide these Vitamin D tests? Why do you think this is the case?
